We're proud to offer swimming lessons based on the Lifesaving Society's Swim for Life program. This comprehensive program emphasizes in-water practice to develop solid swimming strokes and skills, ensuring participants learn how to swim safely and efficiently.

Yes! Private and semi-private swimming lessons are available for individuals who may benefit from extra support in the water. These lessons are ideal for those with mobility challenges, autism, sensory sensitivities, or other unique learning needs that make group lessons less suitable.
Our certified instructors provide personalized instruction tailored to each swimmer’s comfort level, abilities, and goals, creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Bronze Medallion |
This course challenges candidates both mentally and physically, focusing on judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness—the four key components of water rescue. Participants develop assessment and problem-solving skills to make informed decisions in and around the water. Bronze Medallion is a prerequisite for Bronze Cross and assistant lifeguard training. Prerequisite: Minimum 13 years of age or Bronze Star certification (need not be current). |

Building on Bronze Medallion, this course introduces candidates to the role of an assistant lifeguard and reinforces lifesaving techniques, active surveillance, and teamwork in aquatic settings. National Lifeguard - Pool |
The National Lifeguard (NL) certification is the recognized legal standard for lifeguarding in Canada and is required for employment at public swimming pools. This certification also meets Ontario’s Recreational Camp Regulation 503/17 for waterfront supervision. Prerequisites: Minimum 15 years of age, Bronze Cross, and Lifesaving Society Standard First Aid (need not be current). Equivalent Standard First Aid certifications from approved agencies are accepted. |

The Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor course prepares the instructor to teach and evaluate the swimming strokes and related skills found in the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life program. Emergency First Aid | This course provides general knowledge of first aid principles and emergency treatment for injuries. Participants learn victim assessment, CPR, choking procedures, and responses to external bleeding, heart attack, stroke, wounds, and burns. Stay active and strong with our Land Fitness classes at the Perth & District Indoor Pool. Designed for all fitness levels, these classes focus on strength, flexibility, balance, and overall well-being. Held in the Multi-Purpose Room, this class is designed for individuals 50 years and older looking to improve cardiovascular health, muscle strength and endurance, balance, and flexibility in a supportive and engaging environment.

Pool Etiquette
To ensure a safe, positive, and enjoyable experience for everyone, we ask all patrons to follow these guidelines and respect the directions of lifeguards and staff at all times. Your cooperation helps us maintain a welcoming environment for all swimmers.

Arrival Time
- Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your program start time to help maintain a smooth flow of activities.
Pool Emergencies
- One long whistle blast signals an emergency. Exit the pool immediately at the closest side.
Lane Speed & Direction
- Choose a lane that best matches your swimming speed.
- If you’re consistently passing or being passed, move to a more suitable lane.
- Lane speed varies—some days you may swim in a faster or slower lane.
- Be aware of your surroundings and follow the swim pattern posted at each double lane.
Passing
- Always pass at the end of the lane when possible.
- If passing mid-lap, ensure it is clear and safe before doing so.
- Allow faster swimmers to pass, and never pass aggressively or unsafely.
- Do not hit or clip other swimmers to force them out of the way. If needed, ask the lifeguard for assistance.
Turning & Resting
- Perform flip turns carefully, turning towards the center of the wall.
- Avoid flip turns if the wall is crowded.
- Do not hang on lane ropes, as this can cause damage.
Lane Swim Times
- Check the swim schedule and ensure you enter and exit on time.
- Lane swimming is for individuals who understand lane etiquette and can swim continuous laps using proper strokes.
