Cycling in Perth

Why Cycle in Perth?

Cycling in Perth is an active activity for all ages and allows for access to all of the Town with the swiftness of a car with all the enjoyment of walking. Cycle the trails in town, or bike to lunch downtown, or run some errands on pedals.

Paved road shoulders along Rideau Ferry Road, Perth Road, and soon on Highway 43 to Smith Falls make it easier and more comfortable for cyclists to explore the countryside surrounding town. Along these paved shoulder routes you can experience many other small hamlets and villages that call Lanark County home.

Rideau Ferry Road

Cycling along Rideau Ferry will bring you to the Hamlet of Rideau Ferry. Straddling the Rideau Canal, Rideau Ferry is the perfect place to grab a bit to eat and enjoy the lakeside views of Lanark. On the way back you can veer off at Port Elmsley Road and check out Bevridges Lockstation, the meeting point of the Rideau and Tay Canals

Perth Road

Cycling out on Perth Road exposes you to some of the finest country landscapes in the County. The flat land and light traffic make this route a relaxing ride amongst old family farms in the Heart of Lanark. At the end of this road you'll come to the small hamlet of Franktown where you can rest up before returning to Perth

Highway 43

At 19 kilometres away, Smith's Falls is well within the range of an experienced cyclist. Along the way to Smith's Falls you can break in Port Elmsley, halfway between Perth and Smith's Falls. The original site of the start of the Tay Canal, Port Elmsley contains Lanark's only Drive In Movie Theatre. In Smith's Falls you can experience a town undergoing a transformation, with new and exciting developments around every corner.
