Perth & District Indoor Pool: March Break Day Camp

  • March 16-20 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Hey young explorers! Are you ready to journey back in time and unleash your inner artist? The Perth Museum is calling on all creative kids aged 7-11 to embark on one-of-a-kind adventures!
March Break Museum Makers is a cheerful, hands-on kids camp where history inspires every craft. Kids will explore Perth’s past through creative projects, heritage-style crafts, and make-and-take activities that connect to real stories from the museum. From old-fashioned traditions to the everyday life of families long ago, campers will discover history in the most fun way possible—by making it themselves!

Attractions and Things to Do

Originally opened above the Perkins Automobile shop in the 50’s, the Spare Room Bowling Alley offers retro atmosphere. This is the perfect place to try your hand at 5 pin bowling, while indulging in your favourite snacks and beverages.

Offering special March Break hours, reservations on the hour are recommended as spots will fill up quickly.

Whether you want to learn about Perth’s historic buildings, see vintage signs and murals, or dive into the area’s geology, Perth offers several options for self-guided walking tours

Leave the 21st century behind as you enter the world of the 1840s at the elegant Matheson House, home of the award-winning Perth Museum. This popular tourist attraction, located downtown at 11 Gore St. East, is a National Historic Site. 

The Museum offers drop-in child-friendly activities and has an accessible washroom with a change table. Strollers welcome.

  • Open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Located off the downtown of Perth, Stewart Park is one of Perth’s many jewels. With bridges and benches overlooking the Tay River, this is a must-see attraction. You can access the park from behind Town Hall at 80 Gore St. East, from Mill Street, or from Code Park.  

What happens when your region's dairy producers get creative in 1893? You make a 22,000-lb block of cheese and send it to the Chicago World Fair via train - that's what you do! There's a good story behind the Mammoth Cheese - so much so that the unique idea is honoured with a replication! Check it out beside the Crystal Palace.

You can also see many original Mammoth Cheese artifacts in the Perth Museum.

Looking for a March Break adventure? Murphy's Point Provincial Park is the spot for you. The Tay Valley Cross Country Ski Club — in cooperation with the authorities at the park — grooms and track sets the 21 km network for classic and skate ski trails during the winter months.
