Notice is hereby given that the Town of Perth wishes to invite residents to an education session about development on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has retained the services of Egis and LEA Consulting Ltd. Joint Venture (Egis-LEA Joint Venture) to carry out the Detail Design and Environmental Assessment for the reconstruction of Highway 7 in the Town of Perth from approximately 1.3 km west of County Road 511 easterly to Wayside Drive West, approximately 4.5 km, County of Lanark.

On May 1, 2025, the Province of Ontario officially expanded Strong Mayor Powers to 170 additional municipalities, including the Town of Perth. Introduced under the Strong Mayors, Building Homes Act, 2022 and the Better Municipal Governance Act, 2022, the legislation is intended to help accelerate housing and infrastructure development by granting enhanced powers to heads of council in designation communities.
The Town of Perth advises that Mayor Judy Brown has resumed all mayoral responsibilities and duties following a temporary leave to focus on her health.
At a Special Council Meeting held at 9 a.m. on April 14, 2025, the Council of the Town of Perth voted unanimously to submit formal comments to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, requesting that the Town be removed from the list of municipalities scheduled to receive Strong Mayor Powers effective May 1, 2025.
The Province of Ontario has announced that the Town of Perth is among the 169 additional municipalities receiving Strong Mayor Powers effective May 1, 2025, through a proposed amendment to Ontario Regulation 530/22 under the Municipal Act, 2001. Currently, the framework applies to 47 municipalities.
Please be advised that in accordance with the Town of Perth Public Notice By-law No. 5122, notice is hereby given that a Special Council Meeting will take place on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. to discuss the impending expansion of the Strong Mayor Powers to the Town of Perth.
The Town of Perth and the Climate Change Advisory Panel invite members of the community to roll up their sleeves for The Great Perth Pick-Up, a town-wide clean-up event taking place on Earth Day – Tuesday, April 22, 2025 – from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Crystal Palace (31 Basin Lane).
