At a Special Council Meeting held at 9 a.m. on April 14, 2025, the Council of the Town of Perth voted unanimously to submit formal comments to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, requesting that the Town be removed from the list of municipalities scheduled to receive Strong Mayor Powers effective May 1, 2025.
The Province of Ontario has announced that the Town of Perth is among the 169 additional municipalities receiving Strong Mayor Powers effective May 1, 2025, through a proposed amendment to Ontario Regulation 530/22 under the Municipal Act, 2001. Currently, the framework applies to 47 municipalities.
The Town of Perth and the Climate Change Advisory Panel invite members of the community to roll up their sleeves for The Great Perth Pick-Up, a town-wide clean-up event taking place on Earth Day – Tuesday, April 22, 2025 – from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Crystal Palace (31 Basin Lane).

Autism Ontario is one of the largest collective voices representing the autism community, and the work we do helps all autistic individuals and families in their communities have access to meaningful support, information, and connections — not only on April 2 but every day throughout the year.
The parties involved in the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) case regarding the proposed subdivision by CAIVAN (Perth GC) Limited (Case Number OLT-23000534) have agreed to extend Tribunal-led mediation through April. As a result, a new hearing date has not been scheduled.
The Town of Perth is pleased to announce the appointment of Nev Jande as the new Director of Corporate Services/Treasurer. A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) with more than two decades of experience in the public and private sectors, Nev brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to this vital role in the municipality.
The Town of Perth is deeply disappointed by the Algonquin College Board of Governors’ decision to proceed with the closure of the Perth Campus, as approved at their February 24 meeting. Despite efforts to advocate for the continued operation of the campus, including a formal letter submitted by the Town, the Board moved forward with the closure without meaningful discussion of its significance to the community.
The Town of Perth has completed repairs on the watermain break on Wilson St. E. between Halton St. and Robinson St. Backfilling is currently underway, and the road closure will be lifted this evening.
The Town of Perth continues to respond to a watermain break on Wilson St. E., between Halton St. and Robinson St. Crews have been working throughout the day to locate the source of the leak, and repairs will continue into tomorrow.
